Leanne Addison ~ Contemporary NZ Artist

New-Zealand-born Leanne Addison is a full-time artist based in Nelson. Sharing her passion and love for art, she describes her work as contemporary and symbolic.

Self-taught in portraits, she captures an emotion or mood expressed in a persons eyes. Her sketches, whether they are of people or places, are drawn from a photo; encapsulating the finest detail within the picture.

Her paintings are mainly acrylic; and she often uses textures, symbols and objects to depict an experience or emotion. They all tell a story. The clients that commission her to paint, have a strong connection with the artwork, so interpretation is important.  Leanne prefers a personal approach; visiting a person’s home, taking in the colours and styles they like, looking at photos, and talking to them about the reason behind it.
